Randomize answers for multiple-choice question<\/h3><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Two forms of <a href=\"https:\/\/shout.com\/survey-design\/response-bias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">response bias<\/a> are where only positive or primary answer choices are made.<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">I.e. respondents only answer in the affirmative or choose the first available answer.<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Randomizing your answer order will avoid any one answer being too heavily weighted in your results.<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Avoid \u2018yes\u2019 or \u2018no\u2019 questions<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">For some reason, respondents tend to answer in the affirmative to yes or no questions (i.e. choosing \u2018yes\u2019). So, it\u2019s best to avoid them.<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Instead, offer them a list of possible answers to choose from.<\/p><h4>Don\u2019t ask:<\/h4><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Do you drink Coca-Cola?<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">A: Yes | B: No<\/p><h4>Do ask:<\/h4><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Which of these do you drink?<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">A: Coca-Cola | B: Pepsi | C: Dr Pepper | D: Fanta<\/p><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">This doesn\u2019t apply across the board. For some questions, \u2018yes\u2019 and \u2018no\u2019 make sense as the options. Don\u2019t over-use matrix question types<\/h3><p style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Too many matrix questions can be a put off for respondents.
