Firstly, your scale should be balanced.<\/span><\/p><p>If you have two positive answer options (e.g. Good and Very Good) then you should also have two negative options (i.e. Poor and Very Poor).<\/p><p><strong>Bad example:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p>Very Poor | Good | Very Good | Excellent<\/p><p>In our example, there are more positive scale choices than there are negative. You can never be sure if a respondent who picked \u2018Very Poor\u2019 felt that strongly about the negative aspect of something, as there is no lesser option (i.e. Poor).<\/p><p>Also, respondents may tend to pick the negative option because the presence of more positive options makes it seem like they\u2019re being led to one of those.<\/p><p>On top of this, each scale option should be the direct contrast to the one opposing it (e.g. \u2018Very Poor \u2013 Very Good\u2019 not \u2018Very Poor \u2013 Excellent\u2019).<\/p><p>Finally, always include a middle (neutral) option for Likert scales. These give respondents the ability to opt out of a question or statement if they don\u2019t feel either positively or negatively about it. For example, if you ask \u201cDid you enjoy the event?\u201d, then people are likely to respond with either \u201cYes\u201d or \u201cNo\u201d.<\/span><\/p><p>However, if you asked \u201cHow did you find the event?\u201d, your respondents will provide more specific feedback, e.g. \u201cVery informative\u201d or \u201cThe presentations were a little long\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section
